| STATEMENT |
|||
| Altered states of Mind –
Altered
states of Systems. The confluence of electronics, deep psychology and visual arts come together to establish a basis for my work. It is rooted on the outcomes of the organized trance that resulted in the experiments of the neoconcrete. It takes the interference in the black box paradigm into practice, subverting the subservient role of the user of technological systems. It uses whatever medium and technique that offers a channel to express the explorations into the collective, transpersonal and personal unconscious. In my work the viewer has no opportunity to become passive. The invitation to a travel through consciousness formative mechanisms can be sometimes rough as in audio visual pulsations of randomness. It can be poignant in demonstrations of facts that remind us of the useless locality. It can be literarily subtle or subtly literal. Technological apparatus are devoid from their ability to output only the preprogrammed set of possibilities inherent to their nature. Interference is therefore needed in order to create perturbation fields rather than another self-servant dictator of its own. No technological demonstrations are welcome. Traditional materials are dirtily married to unsuspected technological ones. The results can be seen in video art pieces, installations, public art projects and mixed media paintings. |
